Your Veterinarian’s Process

Your veterinarian ensures your pet’s surgical success by assessing, diagnosing, and referring for surgery, while also overseeing pre-op care, anesthesia, and recovery. Their role guarantees comprehensive care throughout the process.

Consultation

Your veterinarian will perform an initial assessment to determine if surgery is necessary.

Preparation

Diagnostics, fasting, and medication are handled before surgery.

Recovery

Post-operative care ensures a safe and comfortable healing process.

Procedure

Initial Examination

  • Your veterinarian will have performed his/hers exam and deemed surgery was
    necessary.
  • He/She will then contact us directly and fill out a referral form on their online portal.
  • All diagnostic testing including blood work (CBC/Chemistry profile) +/- UA and any imaging should be submitted through the portal system.
  • Once this is performed we will contact them to discuss the case and schedule
    surgery.

Note: No surgery will be scheduled without the basic blood work and necessary imaging.

Before Surgery

  • Diagnostic imaging/testing should also be current within 1 month of surgery or sooner
  • Your veterinarian is always welcome to contact us for recommendations regarding pre-operative testing.
  • Patient should be appropriately fasted:
    • No food after midnight the night before surgery.
    • No water the morning of surgery.
    • All medications should be given on the morning of surgery (can be given with a treat if necessary).
